Regional Medical Director - Equine Veterinarian
What Could the Role Look Like?
One assignment may place you alongside a sophisticated sports medicine and performance horse team. Another may involve supporting a busy ambulatory or general equine practice during parental leave, a recruiting transition or seasonal demand. At another site, your greatest impact may be mentoring an early-career veterinarian, helping a Managing DVM develop their leadership approach, or providing emergency coverage that gives an existing team needed capacity.
We are looking for someone experienced enough to step into a high-level equine environment and contribute, but collaborative enough to recognize that every hospital and veterinarian has something to teach.
What You’ll Bring
• Strong equine clinical experience and independent judgment
• Comfort across varied equine practice environments
• A genuine interest in mentoring junior veterinarians
• An interest or background in veterinary leadership, management, ownership, operations and/or financial performance
• Confidence working with sophisticated performance horse clientele as well as general practice clients
• Flexibility, curiosity and the ability to quickly become part of a new team
• Willingness to travel extensively and participate in emergency/on-call coverage when an assignment requires it
What We’re Offering
• $120,000–$150,000 base salary, based on experience and scope
• Full employee benefits
• $3,000 annual CE allowance
• Required multi-state veterinary licensing covered
• AAEP membership
• Professional liability coverage
• Approved assignment travel and temporary lodging covered
• Exposure to multiple equine practice models and clinical teams
• Opportunity to mentor developing veterinarians and support Managing DVMs
• Partnership with Regional Operations and hospital leadership
• Potential seasonal structure for the right candidate and regional need
Who This Is For
This may be the right next step for an experienced associate, Managing DVM, Medical Director, former owner or partner, sports medicine veterinarian, or seasoned ambulatory clinician who wants a broader impact without leaving clinical medicine.
If you have built strong clinical experience and are asking what comes next, this role offers a different answer: practice medicine, develop doctors, support leaders and help strengthen equine hospitals across an entire region.
